Getting started: Here's my initial list of the ways that George Bush has harmed or detracted from our nation. My list is in no particular order.

- The politics of fear after 9/11, not hope or resolve

- Nominating conservative ideologues to the Supreme Court and federal appellate courts

- Going to war with Iraq in the first place and the subsequent draining of resources from Afghanistan

- The total incompetence of civilian and military leaders in Iraq

- Unconstitutionally usurping power from the courts and congress through extensive use of signing statements to ignore laws his administration didn’t like

- The politics of divisiveness

- Massive deficit spending

- Withdrawal from world accords and severely diminishing America’s status among the world’s nations

- Reducing federal protections for the environment in favor of special interest groups and business

- Conservative agenda far to the right of mainstream America, and especially reducing the separation of church and state by supporting the agenda of radical Evangelical Christians.

- Not adequately providing for healthcare or benefits for soldiers returning from war

- In general, being an advocate for big business such as secretly developing energy policies with big oil companies and devising a prescription drug plan with big pharmaceuticals and insurance carriers

- Attacking basic protections in the Bill of Rights, such as withholding habeus corpus from prisoners of war and the general conduct of the prison in Guantanamo, and abusing wiretapping or ignoring existing laws concerning wiretapping

- An almost complete lack of accountability at all levels, such as the Plame incident

- Detachment from the details of governing. Hurricane Katrina; need we say more?
